5 Enjoyable Weekend Habits That Set You Up for Success

If you want to be successful, you need a plan. Understandably, the weekend is a time that one uses to relax with family and friends. During this free time, however, it is also essential you take time from your leisure activities to plan ahead. Here are five weekend habits that will help you get through the coming week:

1.     Get Enough Sleep

Many of us have tight schedules during the workdays. This means we generally do not have enough time to get enough sleep during the workweek. The weekend is the perfect time for you to catch up on some shuteye. Some people need a little more or less sleep, but studies suggest you should aim for no less than 6.5 hours of sleep a night. Studies have shown not getting enough sleep can cause significant problems with brain functions and may result in diseases. So, a word to the wise: use your weekend to catch up on sleep.

2.     Make Time for Fun

Your weekend should be a break from work. Do not pressure yourself to meet deadlines during the weekend. Instead, use the weekend as an opportunity to do the things you love. Go for a walk, enjoy the scenery, or just hang out with your family and friends.

3.     Give Thanks

Many successful people have the habit of giving thanks. Instead of starting the week with a pessimistic attitude, take time over the weekend to be thankful for the good things you have in life. If you have had a bad week, read old journal entries that will inspire you about how much you have progressed.

4.     Look At the Big Picture

Take time out of your weekend to analyze your personal and professional life. Ask yourself if you are happy with your life and whether the decisions you have made will be worthwhile in the long run. Take time not only to plan ahead, but to analyze the consequences of your actions.

5.     Plan the Week Ahead

Instead of starting your Monday morning with an empty head, plan your week on Sunday night so you have your priorities straight. Complete small chores, like setting aside your clothes for the week, so you do not have tedious mornings before work.
