Successful Entrepreneurs Never Commit This Crime

Think about all the times you have told yourself it was okay to fail because you had a backup plan. Backup plans are killers for new and budding entrepreneurs. You may have never heard the creator of Facebook Mark Zukerberg say, “If Facebook hadn’t worked out, I would have gone back to Harvard.” Or can you ever imagine Oprah saying, “If people don’t like me on TV, I’ll just do something else with my life.”

In other words, if you have a backup plan you are basically giving yourself permission to fail. Just imagine, if you were playing basketball and you thought to yourself, “Hey, it doesn’t matter if you don’t make the winning shot,” then how can you even take that shot in the first place when you are already expecting to miss it.

In order to succeed and become a successful entrepreneur, you should be absolutely certain about what you want in life. If you keep coming up with backup plans, you will never be able to achieve anything.  People think having a backup plan means they are far sighted or that they are acting professional. In reality, a backup plan just means they do not have enough faith, self-belief, and passion to turn their dreams into reality.

Go ahead and talk to some of the most successful people you can meet. You will discover that almost none of them had a backup plan. Instead, they had a proactive approach to what they wanted to achieve. In order to be a success in any endeavor, you need to believe in what you are doing with absolute certainty. Otherwise, you are just giving yourself permission to fail.

Just keep in mind if you are failing to plan, you are planning to fail. While drawing up your plan, you need to keep your head straight and write down all the pros and cons. Once you have all your tasks planned out, work towards them and make adjustments. Do not compromise on anything that you want. If you do not get it the first time, do not strike it out of yourself. Try again and try harder, but do not lose focus on what you believe in.

If you are serious about pursuing your dreams, you have to be willing to take some serious risks in life.  If you know what you want and work towards it, you will ultimately get what you want. Make every moment count and follow your gut instinct. In order to become a successful entrepreneur, you need to believe in yourself even if the whole world fails to believe in you.

Bottom-line: Stop making excuses and get down to business.
